The Department of Electromechanical Engineering discusses the master’s thesis entitled

“Experimental Investigation for Using of Microwave Heating in Separation of Water Oil Emulsion”

The Department of Electromechanical Engineering discussed a new master’s thesis by the student Wasan Sadiq Muwai. The thesis aimed to find an environmentally friendly and low-cost method for disposing of heavy Iraqi crude oil emulsions. This is done by using powerful electromagnetic waves and inorganic salts to enhance wave propagation and increase its spread

The thesis studies the theoretical part of emulsions and demulsifiers, factors affecting separation, in addition to the disadvantages of water with crude oil.  The practical aspect included the use of emulsifiers with different concentrations (40vol.%) (50vol.%) and two types of inorganic salts (Na2Co3- CaCo3) for low water ratios

The effect of water on increasing the separation efficiency of emulsions is measured at different radiation periods and different energies for several samples.  Improved optimal conditions are calculated using the professional program (STATSTICA-Design Expert)

The discussion committee consisted of Prof. Dr. Ibtisam Ahmed Hassan as Chairman of the Committee.  The committee members are Prof. Dr. Yusr Riad Abdel Majeed as a member, Prof. Dr. Murooj Nazim Muhammad Ali.  However, Prof. Dr. Raheq Ismail Ibrahim and Prof. M. Dr. Manal Kazem Odeh are members and supervisors

The discussion concluded with awarding the student a master's degree with an Excellent grade
